I WOULD LIKE TO BUY ME A HDTV IN THIS NEXT BLACK FRIDAY BUT I AM A LITTLE WORRY BECAUSE I DO NOT KNOW WHICH ONE IS RIGHT FOR ME. I WAS PLANING TO BUY ME A SAMSUNG 50" PLASMA HDTV THAT IT WILL BE IN WALMART FOR ONLY $798. BUT I DO NOT WANT TO BUY SOME THING IS IT IS NOT GOING TO WORK FOR WHAT I WANT IT FOR. I WANT THIS TV MORE FOR GAMING (XBOX 360) I PLAY GAMES LIKE CALL OF DUTY W@W AND FIFA 08 AND RACING GAMES, I HEAR THE PLASMA GETS SOMETHING CALL BURN IN, WHAT IS THIS? IS THIS TRUE, WHAT IF THE TV HAS ANTI-BURN IN? OR IS LCD BETTER? PLEASE HELP ME. 10 POINTS TO THE BEST ANSWER THAT HELPS ME TO MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE. just incase i get the 10 points lol,, as for the question.. i went to school for audiovisual communications and broadcast for 4 years .. and what i learned about lcd VS hd is that hd the plasma is more of a gas substance wich does evaporate ove a period of time thus causing the tv to break within a year or 2... now replacing it or getting it fixed is a good question to ask yourself but heres the truith.. if u replace it you will be spending just as much as you payed for the tv. so ya HDTC= IS BAD
now for the LIQUID CRYSTAL DEFINITION TELEVISION. my opinion is this tv is the best. it has no burn out effect and it will not break within the first 2 years like its opponent the HDTV .. and ill tell you right now im a hardcore video gamer and i play on lcd all the time at my friends house it it looks great.. well i put all the facts out there man now its your choice to choose .. good luck and god bless

Hellsblade63Both TVs have benefits and drawbacks, to cut to the chase though, the Plasma TV has more drawbacks than benefits though and it can get burn-in where any stationary image can leave a ghost image on the screen permanently. Its better now than it used to be for plasma tvs when they first came out but theyre not 100% burn-in proof yet and most LCDs are. Since games often have stationary elements to them like health bars, scores, and ammo counts your best bet is an LCD. I think Walmart is also having a 40" Samsung LCD for $798, yes its smaller but I think it will last you a lot longer and give you less headaches. Plasma TVs are very difficult to keep and very tempermental. Plus LCDs have been used by gamers for years on flat panel computer monitors.
I have a 32" Samsung LCD I paid just about that price for last year that I use for gaming and as my computer monitor and its amazing. Samsung is the top of the line when it comes to flat screens.

Plasma benefits: Richer color, true black, smoother fast motion. (Some of the more expensive LCD models do however come close to or meet these benefits)
LCD benefits: Looks better in bright rooms, last up to 2x longer than a plasma, no burn-in, less heavy, use less electricity, generate less heat, not as affected by temperature, humidity, and altitude as a plasma.Plasma is much better than LCD. If you look at and LCD screen from a side angle you get a dark shadow. You don't get this with a plasma. Also, having owned an LG Plasma for 5 years and using my PS3 on it since last year, I can honestly say plasma is excellent, you don't get the shadow and the picture is far superior than LCD, and I'm planning on buying the one at walmart you spoke of to go in another room of my home. I've played Resistance, Resistance 2 and Resident Evil on mine as well as many others and I'm very pleased.I prefer lcd personally.
